Okonomiyaki’s are fantastic! For those who haven’t heard of this amazing dish, think of it like a Japanese pizza type pancake with a cabbage, egg, spring onion, ginger and tempura batter dough base plus toppings of your choice. Now, at first, this might not sound particularly appetising, but you really have to try it yourself to appreciate the intense flavours and textures that explode in your mouth when you take a bite!
Hawksmoor prides itself on being one of the best steak houses in London, and rightly so, as the steaks are to die for. The burgers however are less well known, but knowing the high quality of meat served from Hawksmoor, we knew we were in for a treat. As part of the lunch menu, they offer a ‘Hawksmoor Hamburger with triple cooked chips’ deal for £15 and this is what we went for.
So, we first heard of this great place on Twitter, God bless Twitter! Flat Iron Steak was set to be served above the Owl & Pussycat pub in Shoreditch. As with many cool things in London, it opened in the guise of a pop-up restaurant and was open for just a few weeks in August.
The Blackheath Fireworks display is a bit of a big deal in South East London. It’s one of the biggest free community events in the capital and on Guy Fawkes weekend is the talk of the town. Year on year it gets bigger and better and it is now attracting up to 100,000 people from all around the South East. That’s pretty impressive!
And for good reason, as the fireworks display on show was spectacular! Definitely the best year yet! Here are some of the pics we took whilst marveling at this explosive show, enjoy!
So, as we entered the Mayfair branch of Goodman and walked through, there was a good vibe about the place. We admired the exposed brickwork, the American style decor and the loud chitter chatter of punters. The interior was nice, with dimmed down, ambient lighting which created a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. First impressions were good!
Hyper Japan is an annual event in London that has been going strong since 2010. Each year has been bigger and better than the last! Whether it’s cosplay, katsu curry, computer games, anime or cute toys, it’s got’s it all! All the colour, charisma and craziness of Japan minified and packaged under one roof in Earls Court. Here’s a peek into what you can expect from the day. Enjoy!
So for those who don’t know what an asado is, they’re Argentinian style barbeques where the order of the day is meat, meat and more meat. They’re a huge, integral part of Argentinian culture and even considered by many as the national dish.
So here’s Buen Ayre which sits on Broadway Market located in the trendy, hipster area of London Fields, Hackney. Apparently it’s the first authentic Argentinian asado in the UK and has been around since 2004. The chef, John Patrick Rattagan, born in Bueno Aires, has been grilling meat since he was a boy and boy did he have a treat for us tonight!
